The Treasury, Petra
The Tresuary (Al Khazneh) is one of the most elaborated monument in Petra. It is a real masterpiece of the Nabataeans, which is totally curved out of the mountain, and is influenced by the Hellenistic architectural.
The Tresuary will be revealed to you in your Tours to Petra upon exiting the Siq, just about 45 minutes walking from the Petra's Visitors Center.
This great monument was probably built about 2000 years ago as a mausoleum for the Nabataean king, Aretas III.
In recent times, the Tresuary has appeared in many Hollywood movies, like 'Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade' (1989) and 'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen' (2009).
